KeepHealthCare.ORG – Child care switch urgent for Esperance families
O’Connor MP Rick Wilson is urging Esperance families to make the switch to the federal government’s new childcare and early learning system .
The new system starts on July 2 and families who fail to switch by then face missing out on benefits.
“Families in Esperance need to make the switch by July 2, or they could miss out on receiving the new childcare subsidy,” Mr Wilson said.
He said families would be hundreds or even thousands of dollars better off per year under the new reforms.
“In the package, we plan to give parents more choice and opportunity to work, as well as provide children with a high quality early education,” he said.
“For some, access to childcare can mean the difference between working and not working and more affordable access to childcare puts the opportunity of work within reach of more families. “
Mr Wilson said families with an annual income of $186,958 or less would not have an annual limit on the amount of childcare subsidies they receive and could work as many days as they wished without a financial disincentive.
“This will ensure these parents aren’t limited by an annual cap on the amount of childcare they can access and free them up to boost their income without facing skyrocketing childcare costs,” he said.
