New Center Hopes to Help Child Care Shortage

KeepHealthCare.ORG – New Center Hopes to Help Child Care Shortage

She, along with Mangesh Mane created the center after the realized the need within the county.

“Rochester being a DMC [Destination Medical Center] we realized there was a shortage of the childcare centers,” said Hema.

While the city is expanding, the childcare facilities are not growing at the same rate, but once Eureka opens its doors it’ll have room for 100 area kids.

“We will basically focus more on diversity and inclusion, what we can bring from other cultures like meditation, yoga, music, and origami,” said Mangesh.

Eureka is the latest in a number of recent and soon to open child care centers.

Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester is completely remodeling the basement to bring in a child care center called “Thrive”.

“I get at least five to ten calls a week of just people that are interested or curious about having their children come here,” said Tanya Goretzki with Thrive Child Care.

It plans to open in September for children from six weeks to five years old.

In Eyota, the Little Eagles Childcare opened last month, and while it has 96 slots it’s not enough to fill the town’s entire need.

“There are about 139 kids in Eyota that there weren’t spots for,” said Tracy Krucker with Little Eagles Child Care.

Though Hema and Mangesh can’t completely solve the childcare shortage, they know they will make a difference.

“We are trying to do the best that we can within our capacity,” said Hema.

Eureka Kids is located just off of Highway 14 and West Circle Drive in North West Rochester.
