You’re probably thinking, “Why is there peanut butter in a keto blog? And what does peanut butter have to do with health or weight loss?” To be honest, you’re not the only one wondering.  But, here’s the thing: peanut butter is an amazing snack to have on hand. It’s versatile and easy to make.  Plus, it’s one of the most keto-friendly foods out there. Peanut butter is actually a great source of healthy fats, protein, and calories.  It’s paleo, whole30 approved, and has no lactose.  In fact, it’s even gluten free.

Who doesn’t love peanut butter? The only thing better than eating peanut butter by itself is making a homemade version. You can use any nut you like, but I prefer to use almond butter, because I find that peanut butter tends to be a little more runny and not as spreadable as almond butter.

There are numerous reasons to make your own peanut butter at home, including avoiding allergenic nuts and avoiding the added sugars in store-bought peanut butter. Another benefit to making your own nut butter is that you choose the type of nuts you want to use. If you are a nut allergy sufferer, you will want to avoid the tree nuts which contain the most allergen, including pecans, cashews, macadamias, pistachios, Brazil nuts, walnuts, and almonds.. Why are you unable to consume both sweet and salty peanut butter? So, that’s the end of it! I’m going to share a delectable dish with you that will fulfill any sweet or savory peanut butter desire.

Tips on how to make the best nut butter

  • Allow the peanuts to cool fully before putting them in a blender or food processor. Heat may harm your food processor by causing overheating, steam, and pressure.
  • Jenna, one of my teammates, utilized peanuts with tiny red tops. She rolled them between her hands after frying them to pull them out, and the paper fell free!
  • If you want extra nut butter, you may double (or treble!) the recipe using 2 cups of nuts.
