Use our cooking procedure to make sure the meat is cooked thoroughly and can be easily shredded with a fork or by hand. To ensure tender and moist meat, cook it covered first, then exposed at a higher temperature to obtain a crispy exterior coating.

At its optimal level of cookedness, the internal temperature will be 190 degrees! We’ve zoomed in on the ideal cooking times for pork shoulders weighing 8-10 pounds, but if yours is much larger or smaller, adjust the cooking times accordingly.

If you can’t tell by my expression, this Pork Pulled Ahead of Time has taken the place of Matthew in my heart. We had brined it overnight and then rubbed it with a basic yet tasty seasoning mix at this point. While brining isn’t required, it does help keep the meat moist, which is important when cooking meat for more than three hours.

Pork Pulled from the Oven

After four and a half hours in the oven, we had this bad boy nicely cooked and pulled. It had been a long wait, but it was well worth it in the end. We went with a brine and rub for this beast, but if you need a little sauce in your life, our Low Carb BBQ Sauce would be perfect. Easy Pulled Pork

This is a simple pulled pork dish that can be used for meal prep or pulled pork sandwiches.

Instructions:

  • Instructions:

  • To make the rub, combine all of the dry ingredients and coat the brined pork completely.

  • Toss the seasoned pork in a mixture of liquid smoke and mustard.

  • Wrap the pork in parchment paper and aluminum foil and place it on a baking pan with a rack (if you have one). If required, coat the surface many times.

  • Preheat oven to 325°F and bake for 3 hours.

  • Remove the pork from the oven, unwrap entirely, and preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  • Return the uncovered pork to the oven at 375 degrees for another 90 minutes. The internal temperature should be around 190 degrees.

  • Allow time for the mixture to cool before shredding. Enjoy!
