Keto is a diet many people are trying to follow, but not everyone knows exactly what to look for when buying keto-friendly products. Most products have a specific list of ingredients, so you can look for grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. However, there are some brands that are a little harder to find, and they may be selling you a product that doesn’t fit with your needs.
Keto diets are becoming more popular each day. For those that don’t know, a keto diet is a very low carb diet where the body produces ketones in the liver, which can be used as energy. Most people on a keto diet also limit their daily carb intake to under 50 grams. This is a low carb, high fat diet that has many health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease, losing weight and more.
Replacing the sweet, crunchy breakfast cereal with a keto version is no easy task. That’s why we tried to find keto granola options for a low-carb world – both store-bought and homemade recipes.
Buy Keto Grits
1. Magic spoon
Magic Spoon Cereal – $39 for 4 boxes (yes, it’s expensive, but read why we love it!).
- serving size (glass): 3/4 cups | Calories : 110 Total fat: 6 g Total carbohydrates: 8 g (2 g fibre, 0 g sugar, 3 g sugar alcohol) Protein: 12 g
This brand of granola is also a favorite of Collin and the rest of our team, even those who don’t always follow the keto diet! As someone who only eats gluten-free (I struggle with alternative sugars, taste and texture), I thought this porridge was right up my alley. It was very crunchy, both with and without milk!
We tried all four flavors of Magic Spoon cereal and the ice cream flavor was my favorite! It tastes like a delicious crumb cookie, but not as sweet! But I couldn’t fool my kids and they wouldn’t eat it. My second favorite scent was cinnamon. I liked Fruity the least – ew – Lina
I am incredibly impressed with these grits! You’ve probably already guessed the four flavors! My favorites were Cinnamon Cocoa – they are very tasty and the granola stays well in the milk. The others are tasty too, but the frosting was a little too sweet for me. My kids tried them all too, and they liked the frosting and fruit best. The fruity taste is almost like Fruity Pebbles! – Erika
2. Grain school
School cornflakes – $49.99 for 24 individual bags
- (Cinnamon biscuit flavour) serving size: 12 g calories : 100 | Total fat: 3.5 g | Total carbohydrates: 1 g (1 g fibre, 0 g sugar) | Protein: 16 g
Here’s another brand that makes them like sweet cereal, but without the sugar! Muesli School offers crunchy snacks in cinnamon bread, cocoa and fruit flavors, packaged in trays.
It’s a little more expensive than Magic Spoon, but the individual containers make it easy to take with you on your way to a quick breakfast.
3. Low-carb
Keto Nut Granola – $12.99 for an 11-pound bag
- Serving size: 1 sachet (22g) Calories : 190 Total fat: 18 g Total carbohydrates: 10 g (4 g fiber, 0 g sugar, 4 g sugar alcohol) Protein: 5 g
This sugar-free granola contains almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, pecans and coconut for a healthy porridge. In addition to the classic version, this granola also comes in a cocoa nut and blueberry version – for a sweeter (but still ketogenic) treat.

Another bowl of kid-friendly keto granola, but this time with the addition of cocoa. This recipe has the same baking process as the cinnamon squares, but uses sunflower seed flour instead of almond flour (great for those on the keto diet and have a nut allergy).

Packed with coconut, almonds, pepitas and other seeds, these healthy granola-style granolas are just as good in the morning as they are sprinkled on keto ice cream for dessert. Store plenty of granola on the counter or in the refrigerator if you live in a warmer climate.
