  • Erythritol– This is going to be one of the most cost-effective sugar-free sweeteners available. It’s not quite as sweet as sugar, but some companies, such as Swerve, provide erythritol as a 1:1 sugar substitute.
  • Stevia– The other sugar-free sweetener we frequently use is liquid stevia. It produces a sweet drop with a high concentration that isn’t a sugar alcohol. In keto recipes, we advocate using it in conjunction with erythritol.
  • Allulose is a recent keto sweetener that can be found in keto dessert recipes. It’s not quite as sweet as sugar, but it has no effect on blood glucose levels, which is its key selling feature. It’s a little more pricey than the others, but it also results in softer keto cookie recipes.

This recipe calls for almond “flour,” which means you’ll be eating mostly ground almonds. Almonds are high in vitamin E and fiber, which can help you stay full while also nourishing your hair, skin, and nails (1).

Because of its high fiber content and low glycemic index, almonds are also recognized to aid with blood sugar management. One study found that consuming a handful of almonds before a carb-heavy meal reduced type 2 diabetes patients’ post-meal glucose levels by 30%. (2).


While erythritol has no health benefits, it does help to mitigate the detrimental effects of regular cookies. Sugar is used in regular cookies, making them a blood sugar explosion. Sugar has a glycemic index of 65, while erythritol has a glycemic index of 0. This means that, unlike conventional sugar, erythritol will not cause a blood sugar spike followed by a collapse.

Your pancreas has to work harder to pump insulin to bring your blood sugar back down as you consume more sugar (3). That is why, when choosing a dessert recipe, substituting erythritol for sugar is quite good to your health.

While we did produce low-carb chocolate chip cookies, we understand that the actual question is how low-carb they are. Calories: 130, Fat: 12.5g, Protein: 3g, and Carbs: 3g per serving (1 cookie). Per cookie, there are only 1.7 net carbohydrates! They have 5 grams of total carbs, minus 3.3 grams of fiber, for a net carb count of only 1.7.

This basic recipe doesn’t call for any unusual ingredients or kitchen gear, but if you’re running low on almond flour or erythritol, use our Keto Shopping List to go to the market and stock up on some keto baking necessities.

You’ll need Almond Flour, Erythritol, Baking Powder, our SECRET INGREDIENT, and Low-Carb Chocolate Chips for the dry ingredients. This recipe’s base will be almond flour, which will be blended with additional dry ingredients such as erythritol for sweetness and baking powder for rise. We didn’t use coconut flour in this recipe and instead used almond flour. Almond flour has a pleasant nutty flavor while being flavorless. Almond flour is gluten-free, therefore gluten-intolerant people don’t have to worry.

You’ll need butter or coconut oil for the wet ingredients. (Note: if you use coconut oil, the flavor will be slightly different), an egg, and vanilla essence. We chose not to use liquid stevia in this recipe, but if you have a sweet tooth, a few drops of liquid stevia can be used to make the cookies sweeter.

What’s the ingredient that’s kept a secret?

We learnt beef gelatin powder is Deana’s secret keto baking ingredient after conversing with her. Deana is the founder of Good Dee’s baking mixes. Beef or pork gelatin powder adds a chewy texture to cookies and other keto baked products, and it’s easy to find at your local grocery store or online.

Plus, gelatin is gluten-free and sugar-free, so it’s not a problem if you’re on a keto diet. Most keto cookie recipes don’t call for gelatin, but we believe it’s essential for the ultimate keto chocolate chip cookies.

To make the Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F, as you would with any decent cookie recipe. After that, line two cookie sheets or a big baking sheet with parchment paper. For lining, we like to use a silicon mat, but parchment paper would suffice.

Then, in a small mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients, making sure there are no clumps in the almond flour. You may guarantee that everything is evenly incorporated by keeping the wet and dry ingredients separate(4). Set aside the almond flour, erythritol, baking powder, and beef gelatin after mixing them together.

A short note on butter: For baking recipes, we prefer to use unsalted butter and then season with pink Himalayan salt as needed. If you use salted butter in your cookie recipe, it can be a little too salty.

When adding a raw egg to melted butter, use caution. If the butter is too hot, the egg will cook and the cookie dough will be ruined. Allow the butter to cool for a few minutes before combining to avoid frying the egg.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in two parts. Using a whisk or a mixing spoon, combine the ingredients. The mixture will come together like traditional cookie dough, neither runny or lumpy.

Add the sugar-free chocolate chips and mix well.

Fold in the low-carb chocolate chips with a spatula or a spoon. Sugar-free chocolate chips, such as Lilys’ dark or milk chocolate chips, are a favorite of ours. Look for chocolate chips sweetened with stevia, erythritol, or monk fruit while purchasing. Avoid brands that utilize maltitol or IMO fiber as a sweetener, as these will raise blood sugar and prevent ketosis.

Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes.

Scoop the cookies onto your prepared cookie sheet using a cookie scooper or a spoon. Depending on the size of your cookies, this recipe will make 16-20 low carb cookies. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Allow 20 minutes for the chocolate chip cookies to cool before eating.

We understand it’s difficult, but if you pick up these cookies too soon, they’ll break. They, like most almond flour-based keto dishes, require patience. You must sometimes make sacrifices in order to prepare the best low carb cookies.

Make Low-Carb Chocolate Chip Cookies with Coconut Flour

You may prepare this recipe with coconut flour instead of almond flour by making a few changes. We adore the almond flour recipe, but we understand that not everyone can eat almonds or even likes almond flour. Gather the following ingredients to make these low-carb chocolate chip cookies:

Ingredients that are wet

  • 5 tbsp Butter- You can use coconut oil instead of butter, but the flavor will be different, thus we think the greatest low carb/keto cookies are made with butter.
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract- In a keto cookie recipe, vanilla extract should never be left out. It’s a quick and easy keto approach to boost the flavor of your cookies.
  • 1 tbsp Cream Cheese- Cream cheese’s net carb counts vary greatly depending on the brand. Find the lowest-carb cream cheese you can, or one with the fewest ingredients possible.
  • 2 tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream- Unlike milk, heavy cream is incredibly keto friendly. When feasible, we prefer organic dairy for the finest flavor, although it is not required.

Ingredients (Dry)

  • 6 tablespoons Coconut flour– A low carb/keto alternative to nut-based flours, coconut flour will give these keto cookies structure.
  • This will be our sugar substitute, 1/2 cup erythritol. We use erythritol a lot in keto dishes because it’s a keto friendly sweetener. For a more complex flavor, use half brown sugar swerve and half standard erythritol.
  • 1 tbsp beef gelatin powder- This cookie’s secret ingredient. Beef gelatin is keto-friendly and adds a chewy texture to the dish.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder- This will give the cookies a slight rise, allowing them to expand and become more fluffy on the inside.
  • a quarter cup of Lily’s Chocolate Chips– Lily’s chocolate chips have you covered if you’re looking for a low carb/keto chocolate chip. They’re sugar-free, keto-friendly, and have very few net carbs.

Putting Nut-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Together

It’s time to go to work baking these nut-free keto chocolate chip cookies now that you’ve gathered all of your ingredients.


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and cream cheese for 20-30 seconds, or until soft. Mix everything together until it’s all the same color. Whisk together the eggs, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the coconut flour, erythritol, beef gelatin powder, and baking powder in a separate basin. Combine the dry and wet ingredients in two batches.
  4. Fold in your sugar-free chocolate chip of choice once the dough has come together. Make 10-12 cookies on parchment paper with a cookie scooper or a spoon. Because the dough will not spread in the oven, flatten the cookies to the size you desire.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 17 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow for at least 20 minutes of cooling time before handling. Enjoy!
