The Bob Marley museum, in Jamaica, is opening a cannabis retail store, which will sell marijuana in a non-smoking environment for visitors to use.
The Bob Marley museum in Jamaica is getting a retail cannabis store, and it’s actually something that the singer of the reggae classic “One Love” himself would have expected. The museum announced that it will initially be opened to the public and will sell cannabis-related products for visitors before eventually opening to all Jamaicans. In 1987, Bob Marley’s former home in Kingston, Jamaica, was converted into a museum by his wife Rita Marley. The museum features Marley’s artifacts and personal treasures, and there is a theater, photo gallery, music, and gift shop on site. The first Marley Natural pharmacy is also about to open here. Marley Natural partnered with Docklight Brands to open a flagship store earlier this week. The Marley family and Docklight Brands have exclusive worldwide rights to Bob Marley’s cannabinoid products. The presence of the world’s first natural Marley dispensary at the Bob Marley Museum is incredibly important, says Damian Marano, CEO of Docklight. This unique cannabis experience will bring the ethos of Bob Marley to life, Marano said. The store will sell cannabis and CBD products from the Marley Natural line, as well as accessories. And although the location has received conditional approval from the Cannabis Licensing Authority of Jamaica, customers will need a medical certificate to purchase medical cannabis products. Besides music, smoking pot was an important part of my dad’s life. He has always been a big supporter of marijuana and all its healing properties. We are thrilled to honor his memory and contributions to the world of music and now cannabis at the Bob Marley Museum, Stephen Marley said. The store is scheduled to open later this year, with additional locations at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston and other locations on the island. There are also plans to open Marley Natural stores in North America. Marley, one of the most famous musicians of all time, was at the forefront of cannabis promotion for decades. In Jamaica, my family has long been promoting the medical benefits of marijuana and its many treatment options, long before its medical and recreational legalization in the United States, said Rohan Marley, who is in the process of opening his own dispensary in New Jersey in 2019.
